the iRiver S7 portable media device - Image 1Remember iRiver? The Korean company which gave us the USB watch? Well, it has come up with two new innovative gadgets again: two new portable media devices, the Clix 2nd Generation and S7.

Both products feature SRS WOW HD technology. This technology is a complete and scalable suite of 3D audio, bass, and mono and stereo speaker technologies that can be customized by portable audio manufacturers to improve the quality of any audio played on any digital audio player.

Through the SRS WOW HD technology, both models of MP3 players improve the playback quality of digitally compressed audio and provide powerful audio performance from standard ear-buds so consumers have a more natural audio experience. These two are currently shipping in Korea.

The Clix 2nd Generation provides a bright display with vivid colors for a great video playback. Meanwhile, the S7 is display-less, having only faceplate images of animals and humans which represent volume control and fast-forward and reverse.

The two gadgets already sound good to us. We wonder about the price, though? Just be posted so we can tell you as soon as we get more info on these.

iriver USB watch - Image 1Remember the iriver S10? If you do remember how it looks like, then you might see some similarities between the S10 and this iriver concept USB watch. This thingamajig's rubber watchband is actually a USB cable attached to an mp3 player...and oh, it also tells you the time. Anyhow, the resemblance with the S10 doesn't end in the looks department as they also seem to have similar button locations and other what-nots.

The basic buttons could be found on the four sides of the watch which iriver calls the D-click navigation. There also seems to be a Bluetooth logo under the screen, could wireless stereo streaming be in this little fella's future? Anyhow, the concept USB watch is still lingering in the prototypes department, so one could only hope that this thing see the light of mass production. For now, feel free to examine the watch and we'll be sure to update you as more info comes our way.

Remember all those iRiver PMPs that we featured before? Man, the designs on those babies were slick. For 2007, it seems that the Korean firm will once again be focusing on eye-catching designs for their PMPs judging from their new X20 PMP.

The X20 has simple controls, an attractive glossy face that doesn't trap finger smudges. It's also one of the few PMPs that have a removable battery, and offers storage expandability through the use of a microSD card. The X20 work as a universal mass storage device as well, and has MPEG-4 and WMV support as well as JPEG viewing, audio playback, voice recording and FM radio.

iriver s10iriver offers us yet another of its wondrous portable audio player, the iriver S10 (2GB). Amazingly tiny, it weighs only 17.5g, just 1.9g heavier than the new shuffle (the iPod microscopic). What's interesting about this iriver latest is that the D-click interface makes navigating smooth sailing, unlike other tiny MP3 players that tend to clump together all those controls in whatever tiny space they have.

However, unlike its older siblings, U10 and E10, S10 won't have any flash or video support. What it does have are supported audio formats such as ASF, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, and WMA. It also has BMP for picture formats. And for such a tiny package, it's got a rated battery life (audio) of eight hours. There's no info yet as to how long the battery for video lasts, though. It also sports an OLED display measuring at 1.15 inches, and armed with a display resolution of 128 x 96 pixels.

What else can be found in this mini package?

Does it have an FM radio? Yes. Does it have voice recording? Yes. Could it be the next royalty in the line of mini fashion? Or would it have to struggle its way against the new shuffle? We shall all soon see. Keep posted here for more updates on this product.

iRiver girl iRiver D25

We've already seen D10 and D20, iRiver's earlier released e-dictionaries that make language learning fun for kids. And now we have D25, the newest electronic dictionary from iRiver. The D25 has a 480x272 color LCD screen that measures 4.3", and has radio, MP3 playback capability, TTS (Text to Speech) feature, and includes data from Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese dictionaries.

The D25 also has 1.3GB of flash memory and 16 hours of battery life. Not bad for $398, huh? This won't guarantee though that kids will be all psyched and excited on learning new words (be it Japanese or Korean), but at least it makes learning fun. If only they had this back when I was in grade school...

LUCKYee

Another case of spot the difference, folks! First the Moto Q copycat, then the Jano which has a striking resemblance with that of the iPod Nano, and now this! Chinese manufacturers have concocted a contraption that has an eery resemblance with the iRiver Clix...in fact, these two could pass as twins. The Chinese 'alternative' to the $200 price-tagged iRiver is tagged as the LUCKYee LY-PM06. Aside from the lack of differences, what bothers me is how in the world do you pronounce its name?

Anyway, aesthetically speaking, they are the same. But when you go down to the nitty-gritty of things, you realize the differences (or lack of it)...the LUCKYee LY-PM06 has a different interface and sports these features:

-512mb and 1GB capacities
-2.2" TFT Display
-Audio: MP3, WMA, and WAV
-Video: AVI (25fps)
-FM Tuner
-Voice Recorder
-TXT and Games supported

So, since money doesn't grow on trees and not everybody is so stinkin' rich, the price tag of this thingamajig is quite attractive if you're such a cheapskate. The 512MB variant will cost you $50 bucks, while the the 1GB will put a $100 dent to your wallet. Now, let the lawsuits and countersuits begin!

A company called Qrio have released what seems to be a very stylish DMB portable TV. Called the QT-9, it measures a very slimline 9.8mm and supports a wide crisp 3.5" QVGA screen. Rival models including the iRiver B10 only have 2.2" screens and have a 17.1mm thickness. There is a single built in speaker and an extendable aerial. Details show that there will be two colours available, pink and black. By taking advantage of the H.264 coding format, the DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcast) TV uses a terrestrial signal to send you a crisp signal courtesy of ground transmitters.

No details on release date and price are not yet available, however expect this to be a Korea only product. Rival units retails for between $120-160 so therefore it would be logical to think this will follow suit. Be warned, those who think they can get the Korean model and bring it to Europe or the US, think again, besides the DMB service not being fully operational, these countries require subscription of sorts. Again following rival models, battery life should be in the region of 3 to 5 hours.

iRiver 2GB Clix MP3 playerThe iRiver Clix MP3 player is the follow up to the U10. Although it only has 2GB of space for anything you'd want to put inside it, users of this small PMP seem to be really delighted. But like almost all people interested in all things electronic, you'd want to crack this little thing open to see what's inside. So here's a step-by-step instructions on how you can disassemble the iRiver Clix you just bought.

All you need is a Swiss Army knife, a small Phillips screw driver, and a flat head screw driver to open it up and see what makes it work (or how you'll be able to change its battery with 27 hours max of life).

The step-by-step process awaits after the jump!
