avermedia usb tunerFinally, the Mac is starting to get some respect from PC peripheral manufacturers. AverMedia, one of the first companies making Mac-compatible products, announced the upcomng release of drivers that will run its USB TV tuners on Macs. The USB TV tuner, supposedly the smallest model to date, supports analogue and DVB-T transmissions. Although it looks like any other USB based TV tuner, AverMedia said the Apple version will match the Mac's white colour scheme.

Other AverMedia products displayed at Computex 2006 is the Express Card 34 DVB-T tuner which has the right size to work with the new Apple Mac Books.  A DVB-H model of the same dimension was also on show along with combined analogue and digital Express Card 54 tuners and mini PCI Express card designed for the latest generation of laptops.

The company did not say when the Mac drivers will be available.

Talk about X-Men-style mutants! This highly-evolved PC peripheral, first sighted at Computex 2006 in Taiwan, puts all the Media Player control buttons in the palm of your hand. In case you're wondering where the classic right and left buttons are, they have been relegated to the front, just below the umbilical cord. We haven't had a chance to test drive this baby so we can't say if this actually works for hands that do not have Houdini's dexterity. But looks like we need to sprout an extra finger or two to operate it.

Proview's Bathroom TVOk, this one may not be as intricate as the Aquavision Towel Warmer with TV and Mirror, but it still deserves some space on our gadget blogs because, well, it's a gadget! Proview, a company famous for its computer monitors, is coming up with a bathroom tv that would be a sure hit to ladies (and guys) who love soaking in a warm bath.

It was presented in the Computex 2006 along with other contraptions. It is tagged as the BA152-HU...hmmm, on second thought, let's just call it the bathroom tv (ha,ha!), it boasts of 1024 x 768 resolution, 400:1 contrast ratio, 250 cd/m2 brightness, and 3W + 3W speakers.

To ensure that you won't electrocute yourself while soaking in the tub, it also comes in a waterproof casing. And since you probably have no room for an antenna in your bathroom, it is equipped with a multi-I/O connector for different input signals. No word on the price tag, availability, and shipping dates though.
