Oded Fehr, star of Resident Evil: Extinction, presents the commentary for the movie in the picture-in-picture feature for its Blu-ray release - Image 1Oded Fehr, a Hollywood actor best known for his roles in The Mummy and Resident Evil series, gives everyone an insider on the inevitable Blu-ray release of his latest film, Resident Evil: Extinction. Despite the movie basing itself from the highly acclaimed video game series, there were many light moments during the production as well.

Fehr reprises his role in the series as the rugged survivor Carlos Oliveira of the Raccoon City massacre. He laughs off the fact that the picture-in-picture feature of the upcoming Blu-ray release of the film caught them unawares while he and co-star Mila Jovovich each gave their own candid commentary about the movie.

When asked about any added content the new DVD release will contain, he had this to say:

There are a few shots I know that didn't make the movie...and a lot of added action. Nothing as far as additional plots or storyline, though. But as with any big action movie with effects and CGI, I can't wait to see how they did some of these scenes, like the final monster or the hundreds of Mila's in the bubbles. So I think there will be a lot of material on the disc.

On Blu-ray This Week - Image 1 On Blu-ray This Week - Image 2 On Blu-ray This Week - Image 3

We won't be getting any Final Fantasy games on the PS3 any time soon, true. But that doesn't mean we won't be able to get some FF-related content before FFXIII comes out. While last week on Blu-ray had some of us ogling at high-def 16-pack abs of Spartans, this week, we have more eye candy in the form of "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within", no less.

Now if CGI'ed Dr. Aki Ross and Capt. Gray Edwards aren't quite enough for you, the antics of the half-shelled heroes can entertain you as well. "TMNT" rolls out on Blu-ray this week, and although a couple of my friends have grieved over the fact that Master Splinter looked like a malnourished goat, I found it an enjoyable movie nonetheless.

Here's the full list of Blu-ray movies, all to be released on August 7:
  • Are We Done Yet? (Sony Pictures)
  • Arlington Road (Sony Pictures)
  • Disturbia (Disney / Buena Vista)
  • Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (Sony Pictures)
  • TMNT (Warner Bros. Pictures)
Disturbia and Arlington Road are also lined up, for the more mature audience who want to stay at the edge of their seats in suspense. The former has Transformers' "All-Spark" boy Shia LaBeouf finding himself under house arrest and discovering that his next door neighbor just might be a serial killer. Over at the next neighborhood, Arlington Road has the same themes of people being paranoid about their neighbors as conspiracies set in.

Nice, full round up of movies this week. And for what it's worth, I hope that Blu-ray version of Spirits Within still has the "Thriller" clip that was found in the DVD version.
