Great, we thought we went to YouTube because it had NO commercials! We didn't expect we'd be having two YouTube articles posted on our blogs today. Might be because they're really popular now.

As our last article alluded, YouTube's practically a network unto themselves. Now, they aim to translate all that viewership into revenue. To do so, they've borrowed a concept from the very networks whose viewership they've lured away: commercials.

In a key step towards making the free video sharing service pay its way, the company has introduced "video brand advertising" on the site that will promote products and brands of participating companies. One such company, which YouTube had announced in a statement, is Warner Music Group, which will be promoting Paris Hilton's new album in a YouTube channel called the Paris Hilton Channel.

The Paris Hilton Channel is one model of video advertisement YouTube is tooling with, called the Brand Channels. Another option is called the Participatory Video Ad, which is more YouTube user-oriented as opposed to the advertiser-oriented Brand Channel. Participatory Video Ads allow users to rate, share, comment and embed advertising content they find interesting on their own pages.

So don't be surprised when you see something you'd normally see on TV when you watch those entertaining videos on YouTube.
