Sony introduces 8MP Cybershot DSC-T2 - Image 1Sony adds a new member to the Cybershot T-series line with the DSC-T2, bumping up the camera's maximum resolution to 8 megapixels from the DSC-T1's 5 megapixels. The word just spilled through press wire recently, just in time for the holiday season. The DSC-T2 sports 4 GB of internal memory and will even accept Sony's Memory Stick PRO duo for more storage capacity (the 8GB version perhaps?).

The DSC-T2 will take on a similar appearance to its earlier siblings (with blue, green, pink, white and black varieties), though this time around the DSC-T2 sports a touchscreen LCD for interactivity. It will also come preloaded with Sony's proprietary PMB Portable software. Once connected through USB to a PC, the PMB will automatically execute user-friendly programs to transfer, upload, and publish photos online or to a separate storage on your computer.

Additionally, the Sony Cybershot DSC-T2 can also connect directly to a high-definition LCD TV (a Sony branded one comes recommended) via HD-component cable or through a cradle for HD TV sets. These, however, do not come with the US$ 350 package that would soon ship to market by December. Sony also reminds that batteries, additional memory sticks, chargers, and carrying cases are also sold separately, though all will be available through Sony Style retail or your major Sony dealers worldwide.

SanDisk 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo for US$ 56 - Image 1

We've seen and heard of various deals for the Sandisk 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo countless of times before. And depending on where you check out the item, costs and discounts would vary widely. The best deal we've seen in recent days could be FRYS.com's deal from last month, which clocked the storage device at US$ 50.

Today though, the deal comes from Buy.com, and they're offering you the SanDisk 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo for US$ 66.82. A bit steep compared to previous deals, but but but!, if you purchase the item via Google Checkout, the price gets slashed down to US$ 56.82. Practical enough, yes? Besides, it never hurts to have too much memory space to work with, whether on your PSP or any other mobile device.

Yeah, Sony bumped up to the 8GB Memory Stick PRO Duo, but if the price is still too high for you (it will cost roughly US$ 326), then thank heavens for 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo deals. QJ reader Akaikishi informs us (thanks for the tip!) that Lexar's 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo Platinum II is selling for US$ 39.99 after rebate. Check out the screen cap if you don't believe us.

8GB Memory Stick PRO Duo - Image 1While browsing over various sites, we came across this page offering a Sony Memory Stick PRO Duo for roughly US$ 210 (209.99 to be exact). This Frys offer, while not exactly what we could call a "steal", is still considerably cheaper compared to the original US$ 325 price tag previously set by Sony.

This latest expansion to PSP-compatible memory stick is said to be part of Sony's buildup for future digital content for its handheld gaming device. With 8 GB of storage space (well, 7.35GB actually after some file allocation and formatting), it's not hard to imagine what possible media downloads we should expect for our portables. 2007 is said to be the year for PSP, with games like Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War, Silent Hill: Origins and a lot more coming out, and the looming interconnectivity with PS3, could this expanded memory stick be the sign of things to come?

[insert time traveling space warp SFX here] Back to the deal, if you've got 210 greenbacks to spare this could be a good chance to grab a whopping 8 GB of extra memory space. If not, then let's get to back to mere speculating on how this could affect us... [reinsert time traveling space warp SFX here]

Rebate at Frys - Image 1

If you're the type who fills up memory cards faster than homebrew developers can churn out homebrew programs for your PlayStation Portable (PSP), then listen up as this bargain tip from SlickDeals.net may just be for you. As it turns out, Frys is currently offering a US$ 20 rebate for its stocks of the 4GB SanDisk Memory Stick PRO Duo. Normally priced at US$ 69.99, the rebate will allow users to get the 4GB worth of extra memory for a mere US$ 49.99. Considering that the 4GB SanDisk Memory Stick Pro DUO used to cost about US$ 280 some time last year, this fifty bucks may not be such a bad deal.

To grab this offer, just simply save the rebate form which agermats has kindly put up for everyone, then print out the form, fill it out, and mail it off. We are currently unable to find this memory card at the Frys website itself, but agermats has also included a page printout of the product page which mentions the rebate, so you might want to check that one out as well.

MSX-M8GS - Sony's 8GB Memory Stick PRO Duo - Image 1Sony "memsticks" get a whole new upgrade as they double the (old?) 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo to a whopping 8GB of memory. For a piece of silicon that small, to say it was packin' a lot would nominate you for the Understatement of the Year award. Sony Japan dubs this as the "MSX-M8GS," and it's only available to modern Sony products.

What about PSP users? Well, as long as you've got firmware version 2.81 (and above) up and running, you will be able to enjoy 8GB of freedom. Well, actually you get 7.35GB of freedom, after some file allocation and formatting.

Expect the access performance to hit a minimum low of 15MBps. Sony says that Cybershot digital cameras and Vaio laptops won't be able to handle this puppy unless they were released in 2007.

New launches reports that the 8GB package will be sold in Japan starting March 9, 2007 for ¥ 38,000 or (get ready for it) US$ 325.63. 326 smackeroos! Hells bells!
