Wiimote - Image 1If you think you've seen all there is to see when ti comes to crazy stuff that people do with the Wiimote, you're mistaken. Now, it's not only hackers who are making their own motion-sensing controller variations. Full-blown companies are getting into the act as well. Motus has announced its Darwin controller and it uses technology more accurate than Nintendo's innovative device. See the full details after the jump.

Hummer H2 - Image 1Biodiesel conversion specialist Jonathan Goodwin has developed his own methods to reconcile two factors that were once thought impossible to have both ways: Engine power and nature-friendliness.

To prove that, he showed off his H2 Hummer that runs 40 miles per gallon on every fossil fuel alternative in the market- ethanol, hydrogen, biodiesel or natural gas. All of these pollute the environment in low or almost negligible levels.

Goodwin drew his inspiration to create green muscle cars from a fad that hit the mid to late 90s. During those times, electric cars were billed to replace the traditional models of vehicles. However, the models proved to be a short-lived novelty concept. Performance was just incomparable to ordinary vehicles and the electric cars stalled in cold weather. What's more, the smoke these cars were not emitting didn't really go away. They just transferred to the smokestacks of power plants.

"The first electric cars were like golf carts. You really had to be freakin' altruistic to drive one of those things," says Imperium Renewables CEO Marvin Tobias. "Tesla changed that by telling customers 'You can have it all," he adds.

To date, Goodwin has converted 60 H2 Hummers and 100 H1 Hummers are on the way. The results have been so good that his work will be featured in an upcoming "Pimp My Ride" episode on MTV. If you want to have your Hummer converted, however, you better come ready. The whole ordeal costs US$ 24,000 and takes a week to complete.

Segway X2 Golf

If you fancy a change from your tired old Golf cart then you may be inclined to try out the new Segway x2. A Segway you say? Yes! You may think that these amazing devices have no space for your Golf clubs, but you are wrong as of today with Segway launching the Segway x2 Golf edition with added club-space. The Segway x2 Golf still has a top speed of a blisteringly fast 12.5 MPH, weighs just 120lbs standalone and has a battery that will last for up to 14 miles (36 average holes), but also has an added Golf Bag Carrier Attachment amongst other features.

The Golf Bag Carrier Attachment secures your golf bag to the Segway x2 Golf and allows for easy dismount and club access while playing, whilst easily removable for storage and transport. If that isn't enough, it even features a scorecard Holder that keeps your scorecard, golf balls, and tees readily accessible. The Segway is powered by two brushless, DC servomotors and will carry 260 lbs of weight on its small wheel base. It's now up to you to decide - Segway or Caddy? It'll be coming to a Segway dealer near you this fall, and even if you think a Segway is a little too expensive for your golfing habits, you have to admit it does look at home on the fairway.

Here is one weird video of an invention by Garnet Hertz, which utilizes a humble cockroach to control a mobile robot. Using the cockroach's strong grip, Hertz attached the insect to a golf-sized ball that is located on top of the robot and lets it do its thing. The golf-sized ball serves as a platform for the cockroach to maneuver the robot around the room.

The robot itself actually has two large wheels in front and one small wheel at the rear. It also utilizes blue LED lights. Hertz claims that roaches are sensitive to vibrations, and the roach attached to the robot used these vibrations to navigate its way through the room.

We don't know exactly what this robot is for. The first time we saw the video, we thought "Why cockroach?". But then again, why not, eh? Here's a video of the cockroach in action.

VWlogoThe Book of Revelation said that the number of the beast is twoscore and ten and three plus one -- 53 +1. Which makes us wonder what beast the latest Volkswagen transportation may turn out to be. It's a good thing The Daily Mail has given us an inside look at this self-driving "beast".

Dubbed "53 + 1", the VW Golf GTi can run up to a speed of 150mph, using electronic 'eyes' to grope its way on the road. The eyes make use of radar and laser sensors to see. The Golf GTi's sat-nav system can track its exact position with pin-point precision to within an inch.

Now, that's one mighty beast!

radargolf system - Image 1radargolf system - Image 2

To say the RadarGolf System has its admirers is an understatement. The product has been described as the "greatest golf invention of the 21st century” and "the best thing to come along since the personal computer.” How many other gadgets out there have inspired this kind of love?

The RadarGolf System is a device that uses a chip embedded in the golf ball. The chip gives off a radio frequency which is detected by a handheld monitor weighing less than a pound. As you get warmer, the LCD display on the monitor increases the beeps that track your search progress. The radar system works for up to 100 feet depending on the terrain.

According to its manufacturer, the RadarGolf System gives helps golfers who are having a bad day (or just plain lousy at the sport) the following benefits:

  • Lower your score. By finding your balls that are in play you don't have to walk away and take a penalty stroke.
  • Speed up play. No need to put a game on hold as you and your buddies launch a search and rescue mission. Plus you can step up to the tee with confidence because you know wherever it lands, as long as you don't send it orbiting in space or underwater, you’ll find it. The radar system works for up to 100 feet depending on the terrain.
  • Reduce frustration. Rather than spending 90% of your time searching for golf balls, you can now stay focused on your swing and your game.
In case you're worried about technicalities, the USGA states scores may still be submitted for handicap purposes since the RadarGolf System does not assist in the physical execution of the golf stroke.

The RadarGolf System set retails for $249.95 and includes a handheld, 12 RadarGolf Balls, a handheld protective carry case,a Shield-It pouch, owner's manual, DVD and 6 AAA batteries. Additional RadarGolf balls are available for $39.95/dozen.
