Using a naming convention that will keep fans swapping "GTX" side to side, NVIDIA's newest generation of video cards has just been announced over press waves. The GeForce GTX 280 and the GTX 260 are the initial models pushed out by the graphics manufacturing company for the new line known officially as the GTX 200 (note how the GTX prefixes the model numbers). This new family is an old idea improved - it's based on similar G80 architecture, but significantly improved in computing power. More details can be had at the full story. |

It's lean, it's mean, and it's packing dual GPUs. The GeForce 9800GX2, NVIDIA's flagship high-end graphics card, has finally rolled out of the many trusted brands of video card manufacturers, just a month after the 9600GT taunted budget-conscious gamers to give the GeForce 9 series for a spin. But now the most powerful of NVIDIA's graphics technology is out, and you'll find out why at the full story. |

One of the last 9800GTX-related rumors circulating around the web was that NVIDIA's long awaited GeForce 9800GTX was bound to release by the time twin-G92 carrying GeForce 9800GX2, and that's next month. That came with whispers that the card would flex a rumored G100 chip. Guess we thought wrong. Move on to the full story for dream-shattering 3DMark06 scores of the elusive 9800GTX. |

Did you hear that? Jaws from just about every part of the globe dropped in unison. But we suppose the chins slammed to floors first in Taiwan, where the first images and initial specifications of the long-rumored NVIDIA GeForce 9800 card erupted. Need to know more? Head on over to full story, but if you've just spent your last savings on a GeForce 8xxx series card last Christmas, the experience may be tear-inducing. |

How many times have we reported that IBM is the true winner of the console wars? Well, we have mentioned that twice - last November and December to be exact. Now, the company has recently taken the wraps off its newest creation - the world's fastest eDRAM.At the International Solid State Circuits Conference (ISSCC), IBM revealed a pioneering on-chip memory technology that is blessed with the fastest access times ever recorded in an Embedded Dynamic Random Access Memory (eDRAM). This is the same type of memory used in the daughter-die of the Xbox 360's graphical processing unit (GPU). IBM also helped in creating the console's three-core Power PC CPU. The new eDRAM from IBM improves on-processor memory performance in one-third the space with one-fifth the standby power of your usual, garden-variety RAM. With that, this technology would improve microprocessor performance in multi-core designs. It would also speed up the graphics movement in gaming and other multi-media applications. It is expected that this new eDRAM would be an integral part of IBM's 45nm microprocessor and will become available in 2008. |

If you're a hardcore gamer who really wants to see everything a game has to offer, you may have picked up one of the GeForce 8800 series cards from NVIDIA to augment your gameplay. If that's the case, then this little bit of news is for you. NVIDIA recently released the latest version of their ForceWare drivers for the GeForce 8800 types. ForceWare Release 95 v97.44 fixes some issues present in games like EverQuest II and Splinter Cell: Double Agent. This release also removes the option for temperature monitoring and overclocking of the GPU, placing it inside NVIDIA nTune 5.05 instead. In any case, we've listed the highlights of their release below. GeForce 8800 GTX and GTS users should feel free to visit the sourced link to download the latest drivers for themselves, as well as grab a copy of the release notes and installation guide provided by their site. Enjoy! Release Highlights:

Leave it to the folks at NVidia to make life better for notebook users everywhere. That's what will happen when they release their upcoming SLI Power GPU solution. As it stands, the new system will allow notebooks to autonomously switch back and forth between an integrated graphics solution, to save power when less graphics horsepower is needed, and a higher power discreet graphics processor, that kicks in when you are gaming or doing other graphically demanding tasks. The new SLI Power solution from NVidia will produce less heat overall than similar independent processors alone, while still maintaining the option to take advantage of higher performance when necessary. The system will also increase battery life, and contribute to a longer lasting system by only using parts when they are needed. While there are many laptops already in existence that have both a discreet GPU and an integrated one, the product coming from nVidia will be the only one that will allow you to switch between the two processing units automatically without rebooting or otherwise interrupting an ongoing task. Through a system of hardware logic and course clock gating, the system will be able to cut power to unused devices while switching seamlessly between the two processors. While getting this system to work seamlessly is not going to be an easy task for nVidia to complete (especially considering Windows-related driver and compatibility issues), the market is expecting a release that will coincide with the upcoming launch of Microsoft Vista (whenever that is). |
