I am going with Blu-Ray -- if the format fails then I will continue to buy dvds until they cease production. I don't have the time and effort to put towards watching a battle of medias again - I'm sick of that.
Why don't you wait then?
At this time Sony has more Blue-ray capable players then HD DVD.
Both are of equal quality right now and movies cost exactly the same price with Blue-ray have some cheaper older titles.
Blue-ray has the advantage of advertisement.
Any person can walk into a store and see High Def movies on their own but the fact remains, if you dont go into stores and you goto a friends house who owns a PS3 or Blue-ray player and watch a movie on a good TV, thats better advertisement then best buy can do anyday.
Blue-ray and HD DVD have similar movie support with Sony being able to push out more Sony Picture Films while Toshiba has to rely on their movie studios.
Blue-ray also has almost the entire porn industry backing them up and this might be the decision maker like it was with VHS.
Betamax seemingly had a lot going for it too. It had better picture quality than VHS. VHS won mainly because it was cheaper and it allowed porn to be produced for it unlike beta. Apparently sony had morals then. Either way the smartest thing to do is wait 1-2 years and see which has more movies available as now it's about even.
not bad...
its true....the fact that the PS3 already has Blu-ray...that means should 70% of the 100MILLION PS2 owners upgrade into a PS3 there would a Whoopin 70million Blu-Ray Drives....Hd-dvd cannot even Dream to get close.
Sony did not exaxtly lose in the Betemax format...they lost the HomeVideo market....but proffesional studios kept using...and sony more than recouped its Investment in it.
its also true...a hesistant consumer.....when watchin the quality of blu-ray in a freinds house...will almost certainly decide...in the end...to invest in a ps3.....it make sense....it can play games and movies...it can connect online.....its a multi-media center....and...ofcourse...it retails for as low as 500$.
this...and the 100million ps2 owners who will upgrade to a ps3....will be bigger than any advertizing that hddvd can acheive.
p.s: ps3 owners will not wait 2 years to support blu-ray.....we have to ensure that blu-ray succeds...because that means sony will be able to produce blu-ray technology faster and cheaper as it grows more mainstream....thus ps3 prices drops also.
so Ps3 ownerz....start investing in blu-ray
no more bragging rights.....
how are 360 fans gonna bash the ps3?
how are ps3 fans gonna bash the 360?
because JVC allowed other companies to manufacture cheap VHS players and they had support of the movie companies. Blue Ray has already won, PS3 set up huge user base and is back by most of the major studios.
a ps3 is the best bet. Sony is pushing the blu ray with it. Now just tell me that the ps3 isnt going to be the deciding factor on who wins. Because it is. Its basic numbers and common sense
