Photography buffs out there who are looking to get even more precision and detail out of their high definition photos should keep their eyes out later this year for Sony's first color professional camera viewfinder based on the Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) technology.First introduced last January, the 11-inch HDVF-EL100 viewfinder is Sony's first non-consumer application of an OLED panel. The fusion of the OLED technology into professional high definition cameras will allow users to meet the stepped up the demands of the extremely precise focusing needed to take efficient HD images. The viewfinder has a pixel resolution of up to 960 by 540, and includes a wide viewing angle, as well as a wide color gamut and extremely fast response time. It even has a "stand back" feature which allows camera operators to remain a good distance away from the camera without sacrificing viewing quality. OLED technology plays an important role in the new device since it can basically get the most out of an image's color expression without wasting too much power. Its large-area light-emitting elements also removes the need to use a backlight, which can reproduce a wide range of contrasts from deep blacks to a bright contrast ratio of more than 1,000,000:1. Sony still hasn't announced any prices for the HDVF-EL100 once it hits retail stores, but we'll be sure to follow up on any more updates we hear regarding this upcoming photography gadget. |
