If you're in the market for a new HDTV, Sharp is coming out with some very tempting units for you this month. It's bringing a subset of its D64U HD line from Japan, and they're packed with convenient improvements to their designs.
The new units going Stateside are 25 percent slimmer and 20 percent lighter than their D64U predecessors. They're also equipped with more efficient circuitry, smaller, but equally powerful speakers, and sleeker frames. The result is a 42-inch TV which can fit where a 40-inch unit can. Sharp also claims that these new designs are more energy-efficient than ever.
Standard features include a 1080p display, RS-232 automation control scheme, 10,000:1 dynamic contrast, and more. Prices range from US$ 2,099 for the 42-inch 42D64U to US$ 3,799 for the 52D64U. The 65-inch variant is still unpriced at the moment.
