Sanyo Xacti DMX-CA8 waterproof camera - Image 1Sanyo has recently announced a new addition to its Xacti line of waterproof gadgets with the DMX-CA8, and all we can say is that's one tough camera!

It includes an 8 megapixel CMOS sensor as well as a new "face chaser" feature which can track up to six faces during movie filming and 12 faces for still images. Like we previously mentioned, the DMX-CA8 is water resistant. It definitely lives up to the Xacti waterproof line with its durability of staying a maximum depth of 1.5m for one hour.

It also makes use of the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 at 60fps in VGA for its codec and has a 5x optical zoom. For recording, it can store up to 44 MB of built in memory using an SD memory card.

The new camera will be sold in Japan by mid-May, so make sure to keep an eye out for it should you be around the neighborhood once it rolls out.
