Aside from the revelation that Panasonic made regarding their plans of producing Wiimote-proof Plasma TVs, they have been able to come up with a good idea in terms of Blu-ray DVD players. They have made it known that they will be releasing a DivX certified Blu-ray DVD player early this March.
If you're curious as to why they planned on making this certain type of player, Yuki Kusumi of Panasonic said that it is "a direct response to the strong
demand for DivX playback among consumers."
Having the DivX certified logo will ensure a DivX media experience that includes reliable video playback, excellent visual quality, and interoperability with other DivX certified digital devices.
Regarding the company's announcement to launch this upcoming player, CEO of DivX, Kevin Hell commented:
The DivX Certified Panasonic Blu-ray Disc Player is a great device from a leader in next generation DVD technology, and marks an important strategic milestone in our growth into new product categories.
DivX has already
become a de-facto standard on existing DVD players and we are
well-positioned to repeat that success in the Blu-ray category. We’re
pleased Panasonic continues to recognize DivX technology as an important
feature on next-generation devices.
