It might not sound as fancy as plasma or LCD, but rear projection is not about to be left behind in the battle for display size supremacy. Japanese company JVC has unveiled a 110-inch rear projection TV that has a whopping 243.5 x 137-cm screen. That means even WWE superstar Big Show would be able to fit inside the screen, even if he's shown at a scale of 1:1 (if he's lying down, of course). The TV doesn't just have size too, because it also has quite a bit to boast about in the quality department. It uses JVC's proprietary D-ILA liquid crystal panel technology that features the so-called "full HD" (1920 x 1080p) resolution.
Such a huge TV would go great with a huge speaker system like JBL's Mt. Everest. Unlike the Mt. Everest - which is already available to Japanese consumers - this 220W monster is just a prototype, and right now the commercialization of this rear projection TV has not yet been determined. When it does become commercially available, we will definitely put it on our list of must-haves.
