Voice recognition mobile texting - Image 1There are times you're behind the wheel and you need to send a quick text message, but you can't because for one, you're driving and two, it's illegal anyway. Now a partnership between Microsoft and Nuance, a voice recognition software firm, lets you send a text message safely while driving using speech-to-text technology.

The tech will be able to recognize verbal input from you and translate it into text, and conversely it can also read the messages that you receive. The tech can also be adapted to include email functions. It can also change the music you're playing by telling it a specific genre or music artist. It's sort of like an early version of the Enterprise computer.

The tech is called COMAND APS and is expected to arrive early next year in the UK, in the new line of Mercedes C-Class cars. Yes, and this kind of text messaging will most likely be legal.
