Microsoft Surface touch-screen tabletop computer - Image 1Microsoft is doing their best to bring the commercial version of its tabletop touch-screen computer Surface to consumers everywhere. Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, announced that the company is trying to speed up the process after the numerous requests from different entities to use their new technology.

Surface was announced last Spring, and was literally the talk of the town. With over 2,000 inquiries concerning the new computer, the demand for the Surface has kept Microsoft busy ever since.

For those of you expecting to get your hands on one of these computers, it may be a while before a commercial release of the product may be available. Ballmer mentioned that it may be five years before we even see Surface on the mass market shelves of Best Buy.

However, the CEO also mentioned that they are looking into shortening the gap before a consumer version is available. As it is, Microsoft is still getting around to delivering the first machines to its early customers across the different industries.
