LG Philips LCD - Image 1What happens when you cross-breed the innovative touch-screen features of a Nintendo DS with the high-definition power of an LCD TV that Microsoft Xbox 360s and Sony PlayStation 3s use to display their full power? LG.Philips just might have the answer as it heads to the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

LG.Philips says that its larger-size flat panel displays ranging from 32 to 52 inches will carry touch-screen technology which will allow viewers to exercise more interactivity with the product. It's even smart enough to recognize handwriting for more fun.

Another key feature is transflective backlights that this line of displays will carry. The technology will address lighting issues that hinder other LCD TV models in brighter conditions.

LG.Philips LCD has been immersed in the thin-film transistor liquid crystal display scene for almost as long as the technology has been made commercial. It hopes to turn heads come CES 2008.

"With strong growth projected for digital signage in public displays, we believe that LG.Philips LCD is well-positioned to take on even more of a leadership role in developing new (display) technology for this sector," comments said Soo-Chul Park, LG.Philips LCD’s Head of Public Display Department.

This is an exciting development indeed as LCD technology becomes more and more accessible to a bigger demographic. Let's hope LG.Philips LCD succeeds in an effort that few other companies even thought of.

 » this is retarded

this is probably the most retarded thing ever. i like using touch screen on my ipod touch, but who would actually go close enough to their tv just to go to the menu, or adjust it or change the channel when you can do it from your remote?
