Casio flashes latest G-Shock watch line: GC5500C - Image 1

Casio has announced via press wire that they've got a brand new line of G-Shock watches ready. The latest G5500C models carry not only a retro-stylized look, they also uphold the staple G-Shock standards - G-shock protection, water resistance, illuminated display, multi-mode digital timekeeping and stopwatch - in three colors that'd remind you of the Italian or Mexican flag.

These Limited Edition watches come in white with a gold watch face (GC5500C-7), red with a red watch face (GC5500C-4), and green with a green watch face (GC5500-3). Bannered under Casio's "Tough Solar" technology series, they also flex solar powered features with a solar cell plate and a long-life battery.

Every watch in the series automatically illuminates their watch faces once they detect that they're angled toward your face. Even the illumination of each watch's face is solar-sensitive - if it gets too dark, that's when the auto-illumination perk kicks in. Other features include:
  • 200M water resistance,
  • World Time (48 cities),
  • 4 Daily Alarms and 1 Snooze Alarm,
  • Hourly Time Signal,
  • Countdown timer,
  • 1/100 Sec. Stopwatch,
  • 12/14 Hr. Format,
  • Battery Level Indicator,
  • Power Save Function Tone; and,
  • Button Tone Operation On/Off.
The G5500C watches are said to be available all over the US and via orders online in limited quantities, and the price to grab one of them rings in at US$ 120. But if you're not into retro and would rather get one with a classier look, why not head over to Casio's official G-Shock website for other alternatives?
