Sales data from Home Media Research has Blu-ray outselling rival format HD-DVD by almost 2 to 1 in the first nine months of the year. This according to reports from 19 Comments

yahoo now my plan on being the biggest sony fan is complete and kids will no longer give me swirlies because I pwn a ps3 and have l33t forum skills. GET A LIFE PEOPLE. Why do any of you give a flying flip which one does better? Do any of you kiddies have stock invested in sony other than the measly 500+ bucks you put into the system??? Very very doubtful..
Here take my advise. Take a bath, brush your teeth and take up an outdoors hobby.

this really means very little, both are selling at a dismal rate, just one worse then the other. Really the war will never end, had just one format come out instead of two, it would have probably failed as well. People just dont understand HD media, at least not well enough to spend the cash on disc players. Both formats will co-exist till something bigger catches on, that said looking at the titles available on both formats hd-dvd has a slight edge(just an opinion).

Sony formats + fail.
Oh, and don't forget MS/MSD/MSP/MSPD: Only used in Sony products while everything elses uses SD.

Really if you wanna hand the victory to the company that just maximizes its capability, then hd-dvd is the clear winner. As of right now Hd-dvd discs are supporting feature that as of yet arent being used on BD. The "only time will tell" line has been being used for what seems like forever now, well the time is now and its showing there both complete failures. Unless a 3rdparty company can come out with a hd/bd combo player for an affordable price, or unless either hd/bd gives in...the formats are going to continue to sell really poorly.
