bluray sucks... nobody will even know what bluray is when ps3 launches. and the ps3 might have a delay because all these bluray makers have pushed back dates numerous times.
I wouldnt keep my hopes up . The ps3 virtually guarantees the success of bluray . Sony dont have to delay the ps3 because the earlier the console is out the quicker the public awareness will be.
has it occured to anyone that the reason why these Blu Ray players are being delayed is because their components are probably being shifted to supply the PS3 with the necessarry Blu Ray parts? i mean, Sony plans on shipping 2 million PS3s by November 17. that's not a small number to produce. since Sony is the creator of Blu Ray, those other companies have to go through them to get the parts needed for their Blul Ray players.
i doubt that Sony has enough components manufactured to supply all those investors with enough for them to begin their own mass production of Blu Ray.
and believe me, #1, by the time the PS3 launches, a *lot* of people will know what Blu Ray is. Sony hasn't even begun their marketing campaign for the PS3, but then again, the 4 million PS3s shipped by years end will already be gobbled up by the hardcore Sony fans, so what's the point of spending millions on marketing when the average consumer won't even be able to *get* one, even if they wanted one?
Sony's already sold their hardcore fanbase on PS3, regardless of it's $600 price tag. maybe we'll se a few billboards here and there touting Blu Ray, but it won't be until more PS3s are on the market and readily available (ie, no four month waiting lists), that we'll see a blitzkrieg of Blu Ray marketing.
man europe sucks
Blu-ray, in general, is not delayed. Only the players from Pioneer and Philips are delayed. Samsung is still selling their player come September. Sony is still selling their PS3 come November.
apparetnly more blue ray delays that may even force the ps3 to be delayed

blu ray and hd dvd will barely take off, as even the people who do know about it, don't care at this point to upgrade to either format.
and they are both already almost outdated as a new technology just annouced offers 10X the capacity of blu ray. poor sony...
The ps3 was delayed because sony hasnt finishd it yet. Blu ray might as well be called betamxray, minidisc-ray, or my personal favorite UMD-Ray...wow sony really knows how to make a kickass format that no one will buy.. i never bought a umd movie nor will i ever... and im not buy a 600 dollar experiment that sony is using to push its crappy formats..we need one unified format and both blu-ray and hddvd suck major arse with drm protection and poor disc reliability... i will not buy a ps3 until the format war is over because i do not want to support such a stupid idea.
New console need new format 4.7gb +(a DvD) is not enough so stop saying we dont need this WE need It Just dont buy it ahh oh sorry anyway ur mom wasnt gonna buy it :P
@7
Even if Blu-ray doesnt take off that doesnt mean its finished. Betamax and UMDs are still been used.
I still think that Double sided DVDs are still going to be fine for games for atleast the next few years.
Sony are really going to have to make the most of blu-ray disc space to get me interested.
Anyone who has played Oblivion knows that the only thing more impressive than the visuals is the amount of detail.
First time me and a friend saw a lake in Oblivion we just stopped playing and starred.
why don't they just make a freaking version without goddamn crappy blu ray. make it an option rather than force us onto their sh|tty format (I don't care for either format BTW), then they could cut the price by another 100-200$, and most would be quite happy. I have to ta talk to a single person that wants to upgrade to either format, and most are quite pissed about HAVING to by blu ray if they want a PS3. dumb move sony...
If the Sony's PS3 sells well, the Blu-Ray format is going to become a standard (for gaming), just like DVDs became the standard when the PS2 was released, and like CDs with the PS1 before it.
History repeats itself.
And read up on how many Hollywood studios are supporting the format.

And the HDCP and AACS security measures have been postponed until 2009-2011, by which someone will have already cracked these VERY imperfect copy-protection systems.

So all you little haters, do your research, abandon your witchhunts and bend over to recieve your Blu-Raping.
are they gonna put blueray in PSPs??
and if thats not the case i dont care! im on a psp site to read about psp related stuff. surprise!
ooops, never mind the above post, I clicked the wrong button, thought i was in the PSP section :)
