Blu Ray Package - Image 1

If you've been away from the whole High Definition format and console war, then now would be a good time to tune in. We recently discovered that Best Buy is working hard to make serious shoppers want the latest and greatest in HD technology, which is why the store has come up with a Blu-ray package that appeals to both the HD enthusiast and gamer in each of us.

The package contains a Sony 40" 1080p LCD HDTV, a PS3, one game, and a Blu-ray Disc movie to start you on the path to high-definition goodness. The whole package comes in at US$ 1889.96, which Best Buy mentions saves you US$ 700.

All in all, the deal looks to be a solid one, especially seeing that it now looks to be the dominant format. If you've got the cash to spend, you may want to make the investment, especially if you've recently gotten a penchant for newfangled devices.

That is a sweet f'n deal! I paid a good $1200 for my 32" hdtv and another $700 for my PS3! Thats $1900 right there!

There are two things I don't like about this deal.
1) They have to come and set it up ($200 value)
2) you only have a choice between 2 movies and 2 games

I think it would have been better to have a choice between in home setup or them offering a cheep 5.1 home theater in a box to go along with that spiffy new TV and PS3 / Blu-Ray player.
Or take another 200 bucks off if somehow I have the mental capacity to follow the directions that come with the products and hook it up myself and have no need for the Geek Squad to come in mucking around with stuff.

Yeah, that part does take away a good chunk of the sweetness of the deal. Basically, ya buy the stuff, temporarily place the Geek Squad order to setup your stuff, pay for the order, tell the G.S. guys to frak off, effectively get $500 off instead of the $700 (G.S. will still need their cut on the deal for accounting purposes and to fulfill the requirements for the discount), and setup the stuff yourself. On the plus side, you do get to tell the G.S. goons to go pound sand.

Geek Squad sucks. Who can't hook up a damn HDMI cable?

This is a great deal. We don't have an hd tv and got our 80gb ps3 for free! Besides even with the geek squad you get $500 dollars off. I have met people who are fairly young who can't even hook up an rca cable.
