Amazon handing out US$ 50 credit to HD DVD buyers before February 23 - Image 1A couple of weeks back, we reported about retailer Best Buy giving out gift cards to those who purchased HD DVD players and/or products before February 23 - a day that shall be known in history as the day the last HD DVD manufacturer dropped the format. Today, we found that another retailer is offering a US$ 50 rebate for those who bought HD DVD players from them: Amazon.

If you're one of those people who got your HD DVD from Amazon before February 23, you should have received (or will be receiving) an email about the offer. The only difference between the Best Buy and Amazon offers is probably just the player trade ins with Best Buy's offer.

An end date for the offer wasn't indicated so we're under the impression that you have plenty of time to decide what to get with the rebate. A Blu-ray player? You can blow the cash on Amazon's HD DVD sale, too.
