Nikon D3 - Image 1Nikon has just released firmware version 1.10 for its Nikon D3 - but there's something more interesting in this update beyond its latest fixes. Over at the DPReview forums, Axel has observed that embedded in the Nikon D3 firmware 1.10 are strings which seem to indicate an upcoming Nikon D3X.

Well, what's the catch? 24.4 megapixels for the upcoming Nikon D3X! High quality pictures can be obtained for as low as 6-10 megapixels. Just imagine what 24.4 megapixels can do.

Nikon hasn't responded to the leak yet but this may be a response to Sony's upcoming monster DSLR, A900. In the meantime, let's just tag this as a rumor, similar to the speculated Samsung full-sensor DSLR.

If you own a Nikon D3 yourself, why not upgrade your firmware to 1.10 by visiting the official Nikon website? Now, once you've updated, you might want to check the rumored string codes yourself.
